Budgeting and making decisions about what one can afford or not, is not just the realm of governments. Every household at some time or another is faced with decisions over how to make best use of their income. This means that sometimes hard decisions need to be made and some luxuries may have to be dispensed with to afford necessities. Putting your Washington insurance into that luxury bracket may be a dangerous thing.

Insurance is a way to potentially leverage losses in the case of an accident or claim. You need to weigh up seriously the pros and cons of insurance coverage. Looking only at the cost of premiums may be very short sighted. For the sake of saving a few hundred dollars, you may be risking hundreds of thousands of dollars in rebuilding costs. Just because you haven’t made a claim in years does not mean you may not need to tomorrow. Taking a narrow view based on the need for other things can be risky. Instead why not investigate if there are ways to save on your insurance premiums? You may be able to bundle insurances together and make savings or explore different deductibles to save money.
Your insurance agent is a great place to start refining your Washington insurance. There are a number of ways to save on insurance costs without significantly reducing your coverage, so before you do yourself a disservice by not renewing coverage, find out how much you might be able to reduce the cost of coverage.
